Welcome back to our new website, which we are so excited to have launched and we hope will make it easier for our guests to book with us. Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you and well done to Emma for designing and creating our website and we hope you love it as much as we do. Our blogs will mainly be guides for you and giving you ideas of what you can do while on holiday at Chy An Gwedhen and highlighting some of the local businesses you can visit. For our first blog we would like to introduce you to our holiday home and to the village of Perranuthnoe.
Chy An Gwedhen is a spacious 2 bedroom detached bungalow situated in its own grounds overlooking the village of Perranuthnoe with extensive views of Mounts Bay. It has unrivalled views of St Michael’s Mount with Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole in the distance. We pride ourselves in offering a home from home experience for guests which is reflected in the reviews we receive. If you have a baby travelling with you, a travel cot and highchair are provided. It is also pet friendly we do however advise you to keep your dog/s on a lead or supervised at all times as the garden is not enclosed and has many escape routes within the hedges.
The cottage is situated down an unmade quiet country lane with its own on-site parking, a secluded garden which is not overlooked and there are no nearby neighbours. It also offers a large, sheltered patio area where you can sit and enjoy the views of the beach during the day, watch the wonderful sunsets in the evening or spend the night stargazing and watching for the shooting stars which are often visible on a clear evening.
Once you arrive at the property you can leave your car behind, step out of the cottage and take in the superb coastal walks heading either towards Marazion or towards Porthleven and we will be giving more details of some excellent walks in future blogs. You can also venture further afield in your car and take in the sights at Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth (to name a few) and visit many other attractions that are only a short drive away.
It is just a 10-minute walk to the village of Perranuthnoe and the local sandy beach with safe swimming and is lifeguarded in the summer months, and you can just relax or enjoy the surf. Within the village of Perranuthnoe you will find a friendly village, with 2 superb cafes and an award-winning pub all of which are worth a visit after a day on the beach, you need to be aware of the tide times as the beach is fully covered at high tide (a tide timetable is available in the cottage for your convenience). When the tide is in however it gives you chance to explore the local shops in the Lynfield Craft Centre where you will find local artists work or you can visit the local church up on the hill.
We hope this has given you an insight into what you can expect when you arrive at our holiday home.
