Rainy day fun

Stormy days and sunshine, Cornwall can offer it all from the lazy hazy days of summer spent on the beach having fun or walking the coastal paths enjoying the amazing scenic views. But what about those rainy days? Here we are offering a few ideas of what can be enjoyed within the local area of Chy An Gwedhen.

Museum of Cornish Life – Helston

If you are interested in the cultural history of Cornwall then this is ideal for you.  All undercover and gives you a full insight of the history of Cornwall.  The collection in the museum began in 1937 through the Old Cornwall Society and was displayed at points in the Guildhall. It opened as a museum, in the current building, in 1949.  It is full of curios and there are play areas for children, but best of all it is free to enter.

Paradise Park – Hayle

 

Love animals and birds or just having fun in the jungle barn then this is an ideal place to visit.  With over 130 different species of birds over 1200 different birds in total from Humboldt Penguins, stunning Macaws and Eagles.  You can also learn how the Cornish Chough has been reintroduced to Cornwall after nearly becoming extinct.  There are also Red Pandas, Otters, Red Squirrels and a petting zoo to get up close and personal to the little animals.  They also have a stunning free flying bird show in the afternoon. Geevor Tin Mine

 

How about following in the footsteps of the Cornish Miners, here is your opportunity, don your hard hat and go underground.  Geevor is a real Cornish Tin Mine with little change from when it closed in 1990. You can talk to tour guides and learn about their time as a miner, whilst exploring the mine and have hands-on experience in the hard rock museum.

Flambards Theme Park

 

Fancy a day enjoy the theme park then Flambards is an ideal choice being the biggest theme park in Cornwall.  You can experience thrilling rides like the Hornet Roller Coaster or the Colorado Log Flume.  As well as immersive indoor attractions by stepping back to the cobbled streets of the Victorian village and the Pioneers of Flight.

Eureka Escape

 

If you fancy something challenging then why not try the Eureka Escape Rooms in Penzance, here you can test your powers of solving the clues to escape.  A fully immersive adventure for 2 to 7 players you have 60 minutes to escape and is suitable for experienced players and someone looking for something new.

Country Skittles – Hayle

Guys Butterfly House

A private wonderful house near Penzance is an ideal place to learn about these amazing creatures from egg to butterfly. Here, you’ll find hundreds of beautiful butterflies from all over the world, fluttering freely around you.
